- Time for Change: Career Exploration; Sept. 21; 5pm - 6pm; Golden Gate Center for Enrichment. Do you feel stuck in your current job? Maybe you have been motivated to make a move, but still not confident about it? Join us for a workshop that will help you learn about free tools that can provide you a snapshot of that career, free interest profilers, and how to discuss transferable skills on a resume and in an interview. Support services include individualized career coaching, hosting networking events to connect partnered local businesses with talent, internships for expanded learning opportunities, and linkage with other community resources that support sustained employment.
Career Coaching
Career Coaching helps you get started on your path to getting a job you love. Our volunteer Career Coaches or Career Coordinator will work with you one-on-one to help you grow professionally. Career Coaching appointments are available in person at service locations, enrichment centers, or virtually. They are free of costand available to and Martin County residents or those seeking work in Martin County.
What skills can I work on with a Career Coach?
- Career Exploration - Looking for a career change or to find the career field that fits you? Working with the Career Coordinator, we utilize an online assessment tool that measures your interests and skill levels to help you figure out the best career path.
- Job Searching - Navigation of online job listings can be difficult. With the help of Career Coaches, we can teach you the best ways to utilize job search resources and ways to stand out in the crowd.
- Writing a Resume - Whether starting from scratch or updating your last resume, we’re here to assist you in producing a professional resume that reflects you best and gets noticed.
- Creating a Cover Letter - Work with a Career Coach to learn how to compose concise, high-impact, meaningful cover letters.
- Interview Skills - Interviews play a pivotal role in landing a position. With the help of our coaches you can build your skills to prepare for interviews, discuss the difficult questions, explain barriers to employment, and participate in a mock interview.
- Job Retention and Ongoing Support - Building a career takes personal growth and professional development. Our support can continue, helping to expand your soft skills and further improve interpersonal skills.
Internship Opportunities
House of Hope is proud to offer a variety of internship and on-the-job training experiences that provide meaningful, professional learning opportunities. Internships and on-the-job training provide the individual with the chance to develop new skills and exploration of different career paths. We also view this as an opportunity to seek new talent and potentially build a pipeline for future employment. Our internship programs provide a supervised, valuable work experience in a student's chosen line of study and offer a flexible schedule throughout the year.
What internship opportunites are available?
- Growing Hope Farm Internship - Gain skills for a career in the rapidly growing, high-tech hydroponic and controlled-environment agriculture field. We are not accepting applications at this time but if you'd like to be notified when applications open, please contact Megan@hohmartin.org.
- Martin County Student Internship - Working closely with Martin County high school students, we provide internships to develop soft skills and professionalism, encourage strong work ethics, introduce nonprofit career paths, and provide work experience. Fill out an internship application here.

Workforce Community Business Partnerships
So many local businesses are experiencing difficulties in hiring and retaining local talent. House of Hope looks to partner with Martin County businesses that are paying living wages (at least $15 per hour) and are willing to keep open communication with the House of Hope workforce team about available positions.
Being a community partner also means invitations to workforce events. Come participate in our Speed Resume Review Events, Speed Interview Events, Business Networking Events, and receive ongoing support for employees hired through workforce programs.
